WHY 1200 NATIONAL GUARD TROOP TO ARIZONA?

May 26th, 2010 by Jimmie Applegate

Woo Hoo, 1200 NG troops to Arizona to stop “illicit networks trafficking in people, drugs, illegal weapons and money”. Where is the much needed emphasis on stopping illegal immigration? And why all the DOJ reps present? Could it be that their presence is intended to blunt the effectiveness of the Arizona law to enforce federal law? After all Obama and the DOJ believe the law is misguided and will result in, “God forbid”, real enforcement of federal law. McCain and others want 6,000 troops–Obama sends 1200. Could it be that this is nothing more than reaction to Calderon who had the audacity to insult the United States on the floor of Congress? See: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0510/37759.html

WHERE ARE WE HEADED?

May 20th, 2010 by Jimmie Applegate

Good Morning All Ye of Right Mind:
As many of you know my trusty Dell laptop and beloved XP became subject to the vagaries of the digital world and I have been getting acquainted to a new 17.3” ASUS laptop and Windows 7. I am ready to continue regular postings now so how about beginning with a few non-controversial quotations regarding the touchy illegal immigration situation. Passage of SB1070 in Arizona has focused attention on it and President Obama’s evident willingness to sic the federal Department of Justice on Arizona. One hundred years ago when Presidents, or ex-Presidents in this case, were leaders and not wannabe Messiahs, Teddy Roosevelt had this to say about immigration:
“In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language.. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
It is clear from the above that Roosevelt believed in the “melting pot”, or “Americanization” concept as he called it. He opposed the idea of “hyphenated Americans” and warned about the potential ruin of the country because of a “tangle of squabbling nationalities”. He also believed that English should be the only language taught or used in the public schools.
We have come dangerously far from Roosevelt’s positions. His fears are becoming reality. We have come so far that even the President of the United States is willing to violate his oath to uphold the laws of the land in the interest of his agenda. Woe be unto us!

LINCOLN DAY DINNER

April 13th, 2010 by Jimmie Applegate

Well folks, it’s over and I’ll bet that Susan Martin, Adriana Stubbs and Kayla Carbon, not to mention Matt Manweller, are pleased as punch.  If you missed the CWU College Republican hosted Lincoln Day Dinner you missed out on a fantastic opportunity to be fired up along with 400 other right minded folks.  The colors were posted by VFW Rodeo Post 683.  The National Anthem was sung by Emily Cronin and the Invocation was given by Lt. Col. Gregory Solem.  Conservative radio talk show host Kirby Wilbur gave the key note address to the crowd of Republicans. He was interrupted repeatedly with applause by the enthusiastic conservative attendees.  Emcee Matt Manweller fired up the group with his opening comments.  When you have a group of 400 fired up people in a large ballroom the atmosphere is electric.  There is no question but what those in attendance will form a rock solid contingent working for a long overdue (2 years) change come November 2.  Any way you look at it tremendous damage has been done to the 200+ year history of the United States.  We are approaching a tipping point and must replace this Obamination beginning with the 2010 midterm elections.

This was the first Lincoln Day Dinner many of those present attended.  Young Lincoln Manweller was the youngest person in attendance and the most mature person was approaching the century mark.  And that is the way it should be for the continuing strength of the Party.

Andrew Johnson was recognized as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award and Jimmie Applegate received the Volunteer of  the Year Award.

When you see Susan Martin, Dinner Chairwoman, Adriana Stubbs, Silent and Live Auctions Chairwoman and Kayla Carbon, President of the College Republicans, give them a well-earned hug, pat on  the back and thanks for a job well done.  We all benefited from their very successful efforts on our behalf.

OBAMACARE–A VIOLATION OF THE FOUNDING DOCUMENTS

March 23rd, 2010 by Jimmie Applegate

We should be thankful that Attorney  General Rob McKenna has the gumption to  stand up for the law and not cater to the wishes of the liberal Governor Christine Gregoire who  is  catering to  her special interest groups for votes and support.  Attorney General McKenna is elected by the people to represent the people in upholding the  law.  Governor  Gregoire wants him to  consult with her and others in her administration before he declares to uphold the law.  As governor, Gregoire should  support state’s  rights as proclaimed  in  the  10th Amendment.  Instead, in her  zeal  to  cater to an ultra liberal progressive president to obtain a national appointment, she is willing to abdicate her  responsibilities to the people of the state of Washington.

Do you think Washington  would be facing a $2.8B deficit with increasing sales tax, taxes on bottled water, pop, candy, etc., etc., had Republican Dino Rossi been elected?  Did you get the  change you wanted with a Democratic governor and a Democratic majority in  the legislature?   If not, what are you  willing  to do  to  assist in reelecting, or electing, legislators who will represent those who  elected them come November?  Our future rests in  our hands!

RECONCILIATION LEGISLATION

March 15th, 2010 by Jimmie Applegate

Doc Hastings posted House Bill for the Reconciliation Legislation on line.  Only a couple of thousand pages.  But you don’t need to get past page 15, lines 20-21 and page 30, lines 1-25 to raise the hackles on the nape of your neck.  It may make good bedtime reading but you will not sleep well!
