Jimmie Applegate Here comes a biggie! The Supreme Court has agreed to decide the extent of a citizen’s right to bear arms. This decision will have major impacts on the interpretation of the relationship between the US Constitution and the concept of Federalism.

Jimmie Applegate Believe it or not! When a Republican senator asked Senator Baucus to wait until the CBO figured total costs for his Health Care bill, Senator Baucus responded: “We’ve never, ever, ever done that in this committee”. Does this mean that the Senate Finance Committee never knows the full cost of legislation before they pass it? And we wonder why our national debt continues to increase at an unsustainable level.
Update, Finance Committee defeated GOP amendment to slowdown until total costs computed 11-12.

Jimmie Applegate Folks, sorry for so many rapid fire blogs. But things are happening rapid fire and I am trying to be selective.
You and I are part owners of Government Motors (GM) and banks. Proposals are afoot for us to own hospitals, clinics, insurance cooperatives and now……government takeover of the student loan market! The history of free government money is that it comes with strings attached. Do you suppose that coming down the road are conditions for government loans; for example, this major is worth this much and this one only this much?

Jimmie Applegate Things to do in Ellensburg this Labor Day weekend. Attend the Ellensburg Rodeo and the Kittitas County Fair. Stop by the Kittitas County Republican’s Booth and say “Howdy Pardner” to like-minded souls. Be sure and thank Linda Schnebly, Joyce Bechtel and crew for setting up the booth. Also thank those Republican activists in the booth who are there to ensure the “right” word gets out and about.

Jimmie Applegate Well folks, Kirk Groenig did it again. Kirk organized a successful counter demonstration opposing Obamacare in Yakima today. I just spoke with him and he was very pleased with the civility of the participants who opposed Obamacare even in the face of some taunts and challenges from the supporters. Eighty people carrying all home made signs were opposed to the supporters who numbered about 50. Also about 25 of those opposing Obamacare carried and waved American Flags. Kirk reports that 90% of the signs carried by those supporting Obamacare were what looked like professionally printed signs, but not one American Flag was seen in the group of 50.
Think about the difference in numbers of the two groups, the professionally printed versus home made signs and the absence of American Flags in the group demonstrating for Obamacare. That tells me that the counter demonstrators were true, down-to-earth, home spun, red-blooded American citizens. What do you think?
There is no question about the rising level of dissatisfaction with the attempts by the Democrats under President Obama to socialize the United States of America. Each day finds increasing numbers of not only Republicans, but Libertarians, Independents and even those who voted for Obama rising to state their opposition to the government ownership of private corporations and banks including the canning of CEO’s by President Obama. People are beginning to understand that health care is an earned right; not a birth right. Catchy phrases like “Medicare for All” are being seen as sucker bait and few are biting. To paraphrase, are happy days here again? No, but they are coming!
